Partners in B&NES have been creative and constructed an exciting new community safety and safeguarding arrangement. We are committed to maximising the integration of safeguarding children and adults with community safety and the work of the Responsible Authorities Group (RAG). Our new Partnership is designed to offer us the chance to work more effectively and with joint purpose to protect children, adults, families and communities who most need our help.

6. Domestic Abuse April 17, 2018 - 10:02am

Domestic violence and abuse, includes physical, emotional and sexual abuse where your current or previous partner or a member of your family hurts you or try and control what you do. Some examples are:

  • Being forcing to have sex
  • Being forced to marry someone when you do not want to
  • Being forced to undergo FGM
  • Being held against your will or taken somewhere you don’t want to be
  • Being threatened or made to fear your safety
  • Having your self-esteem undermined
  • Being threatened or made to fear for your safety

7. Mental Capacity Act 2005 January 25, 2017 - 3:55pm

The Mental Capacity Act came into effect in 2007 and is a piece of legislation that applies to everybody aged 16 and over who may, at some point in their lives, have some difficulties making decisions for themselves. It is designed to protect vulnerable people, ensure their voice is heard and prevent  decisions being made on their behalf.

The Principles

The act itself has five statutory principles which must underpin all actions carried out and decisions made for those individuals who lack capacity to make their own decision.
